Meet me Tonight: the invisible quantum dance of electrons, photons, and matter

Imagine a special ‘camera’ capable of capturing both the infinitely small and the infinitely fast. Today, thanks to this revolutionary technology, scientists can directly observe the movement of atoms in space and time. Through an extraordinary combination of electron beams and rapid pulses of light—in what we might call a true quantum dance—we are able to capture the precise moment when matter changes, thus revealing the most hidden intricacies and deepest secrets of the world around us.

In the 2025 edition of the Milan European Researchers’ Night (https://www.meetmetonight.it/2025/), our scientist Prof. Giovanni Maria Vanacore (University of Milano-Bicocca) talks about the invisible dance of electrons, photons, and matter at the EU CORNER, dedicated to European funded projects.
